Neglecting Ta’meen (to say ‘Aameen)
· In Mistakes in Salaah
Neglecting Ta’meen (to say ‘Aameen) loudly when the Imam recites the concluding verse of Surat al-Fatihah, “Waladh-dhalleen.”
The Prophet (Salla-Allaahu alaihi wa sallam) commanded: “When the Imam says, ‘Waladh-dhalleen’, say ‘Aameen’, because the angels also say, ‘Aameen’, and the Imam says, ‘Aameen.’ He whose Aameen coincides with the Aameen of the angels, his past sins will be forgiven.” [Al-Bukhari] In another narration, the Prophet (Salla-Allaahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Then say, ‘Aameen’, Allah will answer you.” [Muslim] He also used to say: “The Jews do not envy you over anything as much as they envy you over the salutation and Aameen [behind the Imam].” [Al-Bukhari in al-Adab al-Mufrad, Ibn Majah and Ahmad]
